Sad News
It is with heavy hearts that the League wishes to pass on the sad news that one of our own has passed away. Coach Lars Allemann died this morning, July 31 2014. Lars suffered from significant heart problems. He passed away while sleeping at his home. The Allemann family have been part of our league for over 10 years as sons Braeden and Jared played through the system from Rookies to Premier Chiefs to UBC. Most recently Lars was a member of the coaching staff on son Jared’s 14 year old Junior Allstar team who competed in the finals of the Canadian Championship last Sunday. Lars will be missed around the park by all who knew him. Our thoughts go out to Jared, Braeden , their mother Joanne and the rest of the family as they struggle with this terrible loss. Details of any memorial service will be made available as the family wishes.

Minis update
Please be advised that today's MINI Clinics are cancelled due to the uncooperative weather. I understand that we are all wanting to get the ball season under way, but please understand that half the players are new to the game, and having a bad first experience with baseball (wet & cold weather) is not what we want the kids to experience. The weather for tomorrow looks much more promising, so let's cross our fingers and hope that Mother Nature will want to play baseball tomorrow. :-) Thank you and see you all at the ball park tomorrow! Cheers! Marc

Juniors finish Canadians
After successfully completing the round robin with a 5 win 1 loss record, the BC Juniors finished first overall in typical Whalley fashion with solid defence, timely hitting and a great team effort. BC entered the semi final game confident, but tired after playing 6 games in as many days in 30 degree weather. The team battled hard, but unfortunately succumbed against a good hitting Ontario team. This young team, consisting of 7 fourteen and 6 thirteen year olds made huge strides and the 13's look to be back next year as Team BC. The support this team had in Lethbridge was tremendous comprising of over 50 family and friends in the stands. The boys also felt the support from home from their Whalley family as text and emails were received daily. Overall it was a successful summer and, despite not returning to the World Series this year, Whalley was a strong representative. Congratulations to all the players, coaches and manager on a job well done! We are all very proud!

Whalley Seniors enjoy Nationals experience again
Whalley was represented on the District 3 Senior team by 3 players this year. Austin Briggs, Aidan Davies and Mike Peeters joined the squad. The team fought their way through a barn burner of a series against the District 5 Team to prevail and attend the Canadian Championships in Regina Saskatchewan. They were 2 wins and 3 losses there with one loss by only 2 runs and the final game by only one run to narrowly miss the semi finals. The boys represented whalley respectably and had a great time doing it.
August 8, 2012
Juniors off to the semi final
Whalley played Saskatchewan in yesterday’s final round robin game. Scott Gamble did a great job, pitching a complete game. The bats were working up and down the line up. Mack Flodin went two for two and Josh Jawanda remained solid behind the plate. The final score was Whalley 14…Saskatchewan 4, in 6 innings. Whalley plays Ontario in today’s second semi final (1 pm). Alberta and Lethbridge play in the opening game, that goes at 10 am.
August 7, 2012
Whalley Defence winns again
Monday’s game against Sidney/Atlantic was all about defence. Aiden Kerr and Nolan Weger each pitched 4 shutout innings, in this extra innings game. The tone was set early when Keenan Wong made a spectacular catch, deep in left at the fence! A few batters later Josh Jawanda caught a high foul straight behind home plate- He went hard to the backstop and brought the Whalley croud to their feet. Brendan Yip at SS then made a diving grab to his left and threw the runner out at first base. The score remained 0-0 into the 8th inning. The starting Atlantic pitcher (probably the toughest in the tournament) was max’d out after 7 strong innings and was done for the tournament. Our boys faced a new chucker in the bottom of the 8th. Aiden Kerr and Brendan Yip led off the inning with walks. Wes Bauer replaced Aiden at second. Clayton Sandover laid down a perfect bunt to move the runners. Josh Jawanda was then given an intentional pass and the bases were loaded. With two out Jordan Deshane came to the plate to hit a solid single into left field to bring Wesley home. The final score, after a fabulous game, was Whalley 1…Atlantic 0. Whalley plays Saskatchewan in their final round robin game today at 3:30 pm.

Juniors bounce back with defensive gem
On Saturday Whalley gave up a tough loss against Lethbridge having suffered an uncharacteristic number of errors. Today the team returned to their roots to play a defensive gem. We played the undefeated Alberta team from Calgary and delivered their first loss. Clayton Sandover and Wesley Bauer dug deep to throw strikes for 7 innings and let the defense go to work. Clay’s timely line drive to score 2 and Wesley’s double play helped their cause. The team offence was strong; from Josh Jawanda coming a home run short of the cycle to Nolan Weger’s text book bunt to put runners in scoring position. The parents are also finding their stride as the 10th player in the stands out-cheering all competition. Final score 9-6. Whalley has 3 wins and one loss going in to our game against Atlantic tomorrow.

The boys took on Ontario this morning and came out with 13-6 victory. Aiden Kerr got the win for Whalley allowing just 2 runs over his 3 innings of work. Like yesterday, Jordan Deshane closed out the game working 3 innings giving up only 1 run and 1 hit. Jordan Cilberto and Josh Jwanda lead the offense with JC having 3 hits and 2 RBI and Josh launching a solo home run in the 7th for 1 of his 3 RBIs. Brendan Yip, Scott Gamble and Jordan Deshane also contributed 2 hits each.

Whalley Juniors Open Defence of National Championship

The Whalley Juniors played their opening game of the Canadian Junior League Championship this morning and were in fine form despite a 5:30am wake up call! The Whalley boys earned a convincing 11-0 win over the Quebec representative from NDG LL. After a scoreless first inning, Whalley plated 6 runs in the 2nd and cruised from there. The two Jordans - Cilberto and Deshane - shared the pitching duties and kept Quebec off the board. Next up is Team Ontario represented by Thunder Bay Friday at 11:30am Alberta time.

Well Done Whalley!

Whalley Junior League began the Provincial Championship in West Vancouver last Saturday, July 21st to defend last year's title. Winning the first three games handily of the double knockout tournament Whalley went undefeated to the finals against Mt. Seymour who had to be beat Whalley twice. The first game Mt. Seymour edged out Whalley 8-7 in a very entertaining game which set up a winner take all scenario on Saturday, July 28th where Whalley answered with a 16-2 win in four and a half innings to become the Provincial Champions once again. Whalley goes on to represent BC in the Nationals in Lethbridge, AB from August 1st - 9th. A big thanks to all the Whalley fans who came out to support the team.

Drew Henderson Tournament a Success

On behalf of the league Executive and Board of Directors we would like to congratulate everyone associated with the 2012 Drew Henderson Memorial tournament.

Each year the 11 year old team parents step up to this daunting task. It usually serves as a crash course in league empowerment for everyone involved. League leaders emerge and teams come together to accomplish the extraordinary.  The 2012 event was a standout.

This year’s tournament was exceptional in many ways. The extra effort you made to make it memorable for everyone involved was remarkable. The success experienced by everyone I have spoken to is a testament to how much you all cared to do it well.

To Harv Kliewer and Marc Chiasson in particular, we know how much work it was and thank you for leading. To each parent who contributed individually to the group success, to Dave Langille for the concession assistance, Bill Keegan for the umpires, you all did more than is required and you did it simply because it was a good thing to do. We hope you look back for years to come and enjoy that you were part of something great.

Thank you for giving the players something great to be part of and most importantly something to be proud of.

We are all the league- and you have certainly done your part to make Whalley proud this year!

Congratulations, Whalley Little League Executive

Despite Valiant Effort 9 Selects Eliminated at Tourney
We can all be proud of our nine year olds this year despite not being able to advance to the medal round. They played their hearts out in a disappointing 13-12 loss to Langley on Saturday night. In a game that saw the lead change three times a bloop single over first in the bottom of the sixth saw the winning run come in from third with two out. The coaches approached this tournament with the philosophy that the 9 year age group is a development year and they gave 14 boys the opportunity to play in a Whalley All Star jersey, several wearing the colours for the first time. Thanks to the many comments recieved from parents to the coaching staff on how they saw great improvement in fundamentals and skills of the boys over the short three week period. Any team does not have success without commitment from the parents. Thanks as well to them from the coaching staff for the support and encouragement. As a coaching staff we are encouraged that this group will continue to develop and represent Whalley at the highest level in years to come. Coach David

Tough loss for 9 Selects in Game Three
The 9 Selects lost to Group A Winners Little Mountain by a 9-6 score Monday night. Behind 6-2 entering the bottom of the third, the bottom of the order led by Trevor "Balbino" Pheasey, "Lazer" Logan MacNiel, Matthew "Mayhem" Williams, and Logan "Batman" McLeod, the boys battled back to make the score 6-5. In the bottom of the fourth Whalley game MVP Beau "Beautista" Giesbrecht led off the inning with a line shot inside the park homerun to tie the game. Little Mountain put the game away in the top of the sixth with two runs on a triple to the gap in left centre. The medal round begins on Saturday, the seedings are still to be determined but the anticipated start time is 6pm Saturday night. Come watch these 9 year olds play. These guys are good!

9 Selects Win Game Two
Under the bright sunny sky today our boys bats were on fire as they defeated New Westminster 13-11. The heat proved difficult for both teams as the pitchers had trouble finding the strike zone. Whalley game MVP Ryan "JP" Callum provided the final spark with a bases loaded triple to give our boys a 13-9 lead going into the sixth and final inning. "Mr. Triple" James "Spider" Langille continued his torried hitting streak by lining his third and fourth three bag hits in two games. Owen "Ozone" Wiegner lined a shot in the fourth resulting in an inside the park home run. Despite giving up 11 runs the Whalley pitchers limited the New Westminster hittters to three hits in the game. Come encourage the boys Monday night at 6pm as they take on Little Mountain. A win could provide them first place in Pool A of the round robin.

9 Selects Drop Close Game to White Rock in Opener
White Rock defeated the 9 Selects 7-5 tonight in the opening game of the tournament in Langley. Our boys loaded the bases three times in the first four innings but were only able to come up with 2 runs. Even so the score was close at 4-2 until the 5th inning when a bases loaded triple by Rory Munro of White Rock led to a 6-2 lead. James Langille led the offense with two triples, scored two runs and was named MVP of the game for Whalley. Munro was named MVP for White Rock. Once again our boys played a fine defensive game. Of special note was a great backhand stab and strong throw from short to end an inning by Beau Giesbrecht. Next game Sunday at 9am. Come and encourage the boys!

Rookies update
The Rookie 8's played White Rock in the Semi-Final game earlier today (Monday) and fell behind early in the game 6-1. The White Rock bats were hot, hitting the ball in the gap all over the field, while Whalley's bats went cold. With the score 12-3 after 4 innings, the Whalley Boys started hitting the ball late in the game and attempted a comeback, only to fall short. The final score was 12 - 8. In the afternoon Consolation Finals (for 3rd or 4th) against the Langley Team, the boys offense came to life and started hitting the ball and ended up scoring the most points in a game, winning the game 20 - 8. The Whalley 8's finished third in the tournament. Hastings took the honors by beating White Rock 16-8 in the Finals. The Rookie 8's did not win the tournament like a lot of us had hoped for, but we are still very proud at how the team performed. With the solid defense the Team displayed on the field, game in and game out, throughout the round robin, Whalley was the team that allowed the least amount of points. The Team may not have won the tourney, but we all beleive that in the coming years, this group of kids will be one to be reckoned with. The Coaching Staff and all Parents are very proud of you boys, you came a long ways in these last couple of weeks and represented Whalley very well, to say the least. We look forward to seeing you develop and mature into great ball players in the near future. The Team, Parents, Coaching Staff and on behalf of Whalley Little League, we would like to say THANK YOU White Rock for hosting such a wonderful tournament. Mother Nature wasn't too cooperative at times over the last weekend, but all games were played and organized in a timely manner. Hat's off to you White Rock, you did a fantastic job. GO WHALLEY GO!

Undefeated Rookie 8's advance to semi finals
The Rookie 8's remain undefeated in the round robin tournament to move on to the semi-finals on Monday morning @ 11:30. The first game today (Saturday) ended in a 7-7 tie against the home team White Rock. With the game on the line and tied going into the bottom of the last inning, and with only one out, our solid defense ended the game with a great double play while White Rock had 2 runners on bases! Our boys solid defense saved the day. It was a nail bitter to say the least. The second game of the day was also a great game, this time around against the Coquitlam squad. Our Whalley boys won the game 11-9, which was a game that was played in heavy rain at times and muddy field conditions. Perseverance prevailed and the boys came up victorious once again, playing solid D in the last couple innings getting the last 6 batters out. The semi-finals are scheduled for 11:30 on Monday (Whalley vs White Rock) with the Finals being played at 4:30. Come and encourage the boys! Games are played in sunny White Rock, at Centennial Park. Go get em Boys! Make Whalley proud and keep up the good work! Good Luck Team!

Rookies update
Game #2. The Whalley squad played a flawless game this afternoon. They limited the North Langley team to only 2 singles and no errors were commited, it was quite the accomplishment to see the boys make plays at first base, or catching fly balls all over the field, batter after batter. They even got a double play to finish off an inning. The game was played in under 30 minutes, yes, under half an hour (4 innings mercy rule). The boys are playing two games tomorrow. The first game should be a doozer, against the host team, White Rock @ 11:30. Coquitlam will be facing our home boys @ 6:00. Keep up the good work boys! Go Whalley Go!

Cards Win an Exciting Major Final over Dodgers 2-1

The Whalley Major Cardinals defeated the Major Dodgers 2-1 in the Major playoff final.

The game featured many fine defensive plays by both teams and many chances to score more runs but were thwarted by fine pitching and defense. In the first inning the Cards threatened with two outs, with back to back hits by Noah Nakamura and Brennen Flodin but Dodger pitcherTrevor Deshane buckled down and struck out the final out, Evan Alexander. Dodger Mitchell Savage led off the first with a single, but Card second baseman, Bailey Chiasson, snared a hot shot from Trevor Deshane and doubled off Mitchell at first. The Cards Ethan Boyd got a one out single and was sacrificed to second by Joel Alexander who made it to first. Zach Needham was then hit by a pitch loading the bases. Michael Bauer singled to left field scoring Ethan. On the play Joel was thrown out at home and then Zack was thrown out at third base as the Dodgers got out of the inning. Edward Lin led of the bottom of the second with a single, stole second, and moved to third on a Tim Langille ground out. Brennen than got the Dodgers batters to fly out to second and ground out to second ending the inning and stranding Edward at third. Still 1-0 Cards. In the third inning Noah beat out a ground ball and was moved to second on a ground out by Brennen. Evan then singled up the middle driving in Noah as the Cards took a 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the third Billy Krandis walked, Nick Eastman singled. Mitchell than singled driving in Billy. Trevor grounded out to second and the Cards threw out Mitchell turning towards third recording there second double play and third of the game. 2-1 for the Cards. In the fourth the Cards got a lead off single from Riley Baines. With two outs Michael bunted for a base hit setting up the Cards with runners on second and third. Bailey drove a hard shot up the middle hitting pitcher Trevor in the leg. Trevor fought of the pain and threw out Bailey ending the inning. Still 2-1 The Dodgers threatened again in the fourth with a one out single by Edward who then promptly stole second. After Tim popped up for the second out, Taylor Larose walked leaving the Dodgers with runners at second and third. Brennen then struck out the third out to get out of the inning. 2-1 Cards. Sherman Lin replaced Trevor on the mound in the fifth getting a one, two, three inning. Brennen was also strong in the fifth as he only gave up a walk in getting his three outs. In the top of the sixth the Cards got a lead off walk to Trent Suzuki, a single by Riley. Brad Sims than sacrificed but the Dodgers made a fine play getting the lead runner at third. Sherman than got a strike out and ground out to get out of the inning. In the bottom of the sixth Sherman got to first on a error. This ended Brennen's fine pitching as he reached his pitch count. Michael Bauer than came in to pitch. After a fly out to center by Edward, and a strike out by Tim, Sherman had made it all the way to third. But the Cards buckled down again with Michael striking out the final batter. On the last pitch Evan made a fine catch on a tipped third strike.

So final score was 2-1 for the Cardinals on one of the finest major games of the year! Congrats to both teams on fine performances!

Reds Win Junior Final
Friday night saw two very tired teams play in the Junior final. After the Yankees defeated the Reds 5-4 in 10 innings Thursday night - the same two teams took the field for a winner tgake all game. The Reds took an early lead and rode that to a 5-1 win. The Wong brothers - Matthew and Keenan - combined for the win with Matthew going 5 and Keenan going 2. The brings to an end a very exciting playoff and Junior Division season. As always the baseball on the Junior Diamond was fun and exciting. Congratulations to all the Coaches and players on a great season!

Junior Final Final Tonight at 6pm - and other playoff notes

Thursday night was an exciting night at Whalley Ball Park with some tension filled games. In the Major Division, the Dodgers jumped out ahead of the Yankees 9-1 and held on to win 10-8. That win puts the Dodgers into the Major Final on Saturday at 10am against the Cardinals.

In the Rookie Division, after the round robin, the Dodgers needed to be beaten twice by the Cardinals if the Cards were to take the Championship. On Wednesday the Cards won setting up a winner take all game Thursday where the Cards defeated the Dodgers take the championship!

In what was maybe the most exciting game at Whalley this year, the Junior Division Yankees played a must win game against the Reds. A win and the Yankees stayed alive in the Championship - a loss and the Reds would win the championship. It took 10 innings to settle but in a game that saw solid pitching and some great outfield play from both teams - the Yankees won the game 5-4. That means the same two teams meet at 6pm in a winner take all game. Come enjoy the sunshine in this winner take all game!

The Minor Division final took place on a cool Wednesday night on the Major Diamond. In that game, the Yankees defeated the Reds 7-4 final. It what was a very exciting finish to the Minor Season.

A big thank you to all the volunteers who organized this year's event lead by the Social Committee and to all that helped out in a very busy concession!

Annual Minor 9/10 Tournament Wet but Successful

In a rain shortened weekend the Langley Yankees won the Gold Medal in the annual May Long Weekend 9/10 tournament.

It was a tough weekend for our Whalley boys as they finished the round robin with a win and a tie, but missed the bye to the semi-finals on the third tiebreaker. The Hastings Rockies played one more defensive inning and recieved the bye on run diferential ratio.

In a great effort in the medal round qualifying game our boys gave up five runs in the first inning and then shut out Hastings the rest of the way losing 5-2.

Thanks to everyone who volunteered their time on this busy long weekend to battle the weather to get these games in!

PBL Chiefs Renew Ties with Whalley Little League

The PBL Chiefs - formerly the Fraser Valley Chiefs - will once again be known as the Whalley Chiefs. This is great news for Whalley Little League as kids now have the opportunity to play baseball from the time they are 4 up thru the WLL program, to the PBL and College (Douglas College) without ever leaving Whalley Athletic Park. For the full story click the link below.

Working with the Chiefs and Douglas College, we have access to some great coaches and ball players that will help develop the young players of Whalley Little League and provide an example of what you can do in baseball.

Whalley ends World series run

Like in Lethbridge the Whalley boys had a late night game followed by an early morning game - and unfortunately the results went against us. Whalley lost to Italy 4-2 Wednesday night in a very tight game. Jacob Robazza pitched a great game striking out 8 but again, the bats that were so good in the Canadian Championships were silent and we couldn't get more than 2 runs of a solid Italian pitching tandem. The team played well but it was a disappointing loss.

Despite getting back to the hotel at 11pm the boys had to be back at the park at 9:30am Thursday which meant an 8am wake up call. In a game to determine the who would go to the playoffs, Whalley faced Venezuela. Daichi Keber had just an outstanding game on the mound and kept Whalley in the game for 5 innings. Heading to the bottom of the 6th we trailed 3-0. Unfortunately Venezuela scored 7 in that inning to win 10-0 - a very disappointing result considering how close the game really was. Daichi was just superb in this game - it was something to watch him pitch. The boys left the game heads held high but with the loss finished 3rd in the International Pool and won't advance.

In the end, 13 games in 17 days - including 8 in 9 days to win the Canadian Championship - proved too much and the boys were just tired. Some played through pretty bad pain just to play the games - ice and advil were more popular in the kid's rooms that candy and pop. Despite seeing pitching no different than we saw in the Canadian Championship, the bats were slow and we couldn't score. However, the boys were not overmatched in any games and proved they could play with the best in the world - they really did put everything into this tournament and despite not making the playoff round they certainly did Whalley and Canada proud. Well done.

For those who texted me - thanks for the support. My blackberry died so I've been out of touch the last 2 days! We have had outstanding support from all of the Whalley Nation - which we have discovered includes many people in Taylor - and we thank you all for that!!

For those of you who haven't yet had the experience to travel under the Whalley banner, it is truly amazing how many people you run into who are Whalley fans - people here were already wearing Whalley shirts and hats when we arrived - and there are a lot more of them with Whalley shirts, hats and pins for the next Whalley team to see when they get here.. There is nothing quite like it!

Whalley loses to Chinese Taipei
Whalley had their first setback Tuesday losing 10-0 to Chinese Taipai. This was going to be a tough game but the Whalley boys held the game close for a while - but then started making mistakes - and against teams this good you can't make mistakes. Jordan Ciliberto pitched 1 solid inning. Matthew Wong also pitched 2 innings and did great - but too many errors and Taipai prevailed. Next up is Italy at 8pm Wednesday night!

Whalley Juniors Win World Series Opener

Whalley/Canada defeated Puerto Rico 6-1 to open up their World Series in Taylor Michigan on Monday. The team rode the outstanding pitching of Daichi Keber for the first 3 2/3 innings and scored 2 runs in the top of 3 to take the lead. Daichi left the game allowing 1 hit and was followed by Will Gladwell who pitched great allowing 1hit in 2 1/3 innings. Whalley picked up a run in the 5th and 3 in the 6th capitalizing on a couple miscues by the Puerto Rican squad. As he has done so many times in this Allstar season, Bailey Fidler came in in the bottom of the 7th to close the game. With runners on 1st and 2nd and none out, Bailey didn't give up a hit in shutting things down. Well done - we are very proud of our boys!! Great Win!

Whalley are 2011 Junior Canadian Champs!

Slow updates due to a busy schedule here in Lethbridge....but after defeating Lethbridge 16-7 in the Semifinals, Whalley took on round robin 1st place finishers Medicine Hat in the final. The result was a 14-8 Whalley win!!!

This was an exciting game with bats on both sides rolling all game long. Every time Whalley would score runs, Medicine Hat would answer. Cole Hunt battled for 4 innings before giving way to Jacob Robazza for 1. We scored, they scored. Bailey Fidler came into the game in the 6th and shut it down for 2 innings to preserve the victory!! Huge hitting up and down the lineups. Will Gladwell had 4 hits, Matt Macdonald and Daichi Keber added 3 each. Clutch hits all over! What a great game!

Congratulations to the team and a great group of fans who were loud and proud like only Whalley parents can be!

Whalley Juniors Split final 2 RR Games

The Whalley Juniors split a late night game Monday night and the first game of the day Tuesday. Whalley played well against Medicine Hat but the hot bats were somewhat quiet and Medicine Hat prevailed 8-4. However, after a late night supper the boys were back at the park at for a 10:30am warmup Tuesday against Quebec. Whalley prevailed in that game 19-0 against an overmatched Quebec team. Jordan Ciliberto went the 1st inning allowing no hits and Matthew Wong went the remaining 4 also allowing no hits. Hits and RBI came from up and down the lineup - and quite a few errors by Quebec didn't help their pitchers who battled hard.

Next up the Semi Final game - time and team to be determined.

Whalley Juniors Win an early morning game

The Whalley Juniors defeated Saskatchewan 13-0 in an early morning 9am game Sunday in Lethbridge. The boys were very tired but again came out fast scoring 3 runs in the top of the first inning. Cole Hunt lead the early attack again and ended the day 2 for 3 with 2 runs and 3 RBI. Will Gladwell had a big day going 2 for 3 with 5 RBI as did Mitch Williams who went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI. Pitching duties were shared by Jacob Robazza, Bailey Fidler, Jordan Ciliberto, Scott Game with Cole closing out the game. Well done. Next game for Whalley is a 7pm start tomorrow night versus a very tough Medicine Hat squad.

Whalley Juniors move to 3-0

Whalley took on Ontario Saturday in an afternoon contest in the extreme heat and came a way with a 16-5 win over a very tough opponent. Everyone knows that Ontario will be tougher if we meet them again.

The key to the win was a fast start with Cole Hunt leading off with a double. Whalley scored 2 in the top of 1st. Then came the pitching of Daichi Keber who was outstanding throwing a shutout for 4 innings and 50 pitches.

Matt MacDonald was huge at the plate going 3 for 4 with 4 RBI including a 3 run home run. Cole ended up 3 for 5 scoring 2 runs. Jacob added 5 RBI and Daichi 2.

Once Daichi was out of the game, Will Gladwell, Jordan Ciliberto and Matt MacDonald brought the game home. Jordan finished the game with a nifty double play with a force out at 3rd and throwing across to 1st to get the runner.

Next up is Saskatchewan tomorrow morning at 9am!!

Whalley Juniors 2 - 0 at Canadians

Whalley moved to 2 and 0 at the Junior Canadians on Friday with an 11 - 0 win over the Atlantic team from Sydney.

A quick start was key with Cole walking to lead off the game and then hits by Scott,Will and Jacob came one after the other. Whalley scored 3 to jump out to a lead. Jacob started the game on the mound and went 3 strong innings finishing the 3rd with his 35th pitch. Whalley added 5 in the 2nd and 2 in the 3rd to lead 10 - 0 after 3. From there Bailey pitched 1 and 2/3s and Matt MacDonald came in to throw 1 pitch to finish the game. Strong performance all around. Ontario tomorrow at 3:30 Lethbridge time.

Whalley Juniors in a tight one Wednesday night!

The Whalley Jr Allstars kicked off their 2011 Canadian Championship Wednesday night with a hard fought 13-10 victory in 9 innings over the host Lethridge team.

In what has become a dangerous trend lately, Whalley started off sloppy and didn't give starter Cole Hunt much defence in the first couple of innings. As a result, Lethbridge went up 4-0. However, in what has become more of a positive trend, the boys didn't give up and bounced back to score 4 in the top of the 3rd to tie up the game. After adding 2 more in the 4th, Whalley was up 6-4. Lethbridge scored 1 in the bottom of 6 to make it a 6-5 game. Heading into the bottom of the 7th Whalley held a 1 run lead. Lethbridge scored 1 to tie and would have won the game if not for Matthew Wong throwing out the winning run at the plate from right field - truly a game saver!

On to extra innings the game went and Whalley put up 4 runs in the top of 8! Safe lead? Not in this game, Lethbridge bounced back and put up 4 of their own in the bottom of 8. In the top of the ninth Whalley again scored - 3 this time. In the bottom of the 9th Lethbridge lead of with walk and a single off Jordan Ciliberto. Bailey Fidler came into the game to pitch and gave up a single - based loaded none out. Bailey got the next batter to hit a grounder back to him and the throw home was in time for the first out. Next batter hit a line drive to Will Gladwell who threw to Matthew Wong at 2nd base for the double play - game over!

Lots of pitches from both sides with Cole starting the game, followed by Diachi Keber, Will, Jacob Robazza, Jordan Ciliberto and finally Bailey. On offence, Jacob went 4 for 4 at the plate with 2 double, Jordan Ciliberto added 2 clutch hits and 3 RBI, Mitchel Williams and Cole each added 2 hits and Scott Gamble walked 4 times. Matt MacDonald was outstanding behind the plate catching all 9 innings.

Great game. Thankfully the boys have the day off as the game ended after 11pm. Next up is the Atlantic team Friday at Noon (Alberta time).

Whalley Juniors are BC Champs

They didn't make it easy on themselves, but the boys of the Whalley Junior Allstar team captured the provincial LL banner Friday night by defeating Coquitlam 10-3.

After loosing to Coquitlam in the round robin, the boys had to take the backdoor route to the championship. In the end, they had to beat Coquitlam twice. Thursday night Whalley dominated in a 9-0 win powered by Will Gladwell's dominating pitching performance, Jacob Robazza's 4 rbi and Mitch Williams two run bomb over the right field fence.

That left Friday nights game as a winner take all. While the end score wasn't close the game was. In fact Coquitlam lead 3-2 after 5. Cole Hunt relieve Jacob on the mound in the 5th and shut down Coquitlam allowing the Whalley bats to pick up 2 in the top of 6 to take a 4-3 lead. In the top of 7, Whalley broke the game open scoring 6 more runs. Daichi Keber lead the offence going 4-4 at the plate.

Congratulations to all the boys as contributions on offence and defence came from up and down the lineup. Well done.

A big thank you to all the Whalley fans who came out and showed their support!!

Reds and more Reds!

The Major and Junior Reds both came up victorious in their playoff runs.

In the Junior Divison the regular season champs first defeated the Yankees on Saturday and then wrapped up the double knockout playoff tournament with a victory of the Cubs. Strong hitting was the story of the day versus the Yankees and a strong pitching performance by Cole Hunt in Sunday's final sealed the championship. Congratulations to the players and coaches on a great season.

In the Major Division, this version of the Reds were also regular season champs. In the playoff round robin the Reds went undefeated and faced the ever present Cardinals in the Final. The Cardinals scored a run early off Reds starter Nolan Weger but the Reds battled back and scored 3 run to take the game 3-1 in a very exciting final. Well done for the Reds who last year finished in last place. Worst to First! Congratulations!

Junior Reds Win Coquitlam Wood Bat Tourney

The Whalley Junior Reds defeated the Coquitlam Giants Monday night 1-0 to win the Annual Coquitlam Junior Wood bat Tournament. The Reds had reached the final game by going undefeated in the round robin portion of the tournament and then defeating the Coquitlam Cardinals in the Semi-Finals.

The final game turned into a pitching duel between the Red’s Cole Hunt and Ben McCarthy from the Cardinals. Both pitchers pitched and the defences were great with Adam Rota making a number of solid plays for the Cardinals and Bailey Fiddler and Scott Gamble robbing hits from Cardinal batters. At the end of the game, both pitchers had only surrendered 1 hit each - the only difference were the patient bats early in the game for the Reds who turned a walk to Bailey into the only run of the game. Cole Hunt finished the 5 inning game with 8 strikeouts and never allowed a ball hit out of the infield – an outstanding performance!

Congratulations to the players and coaches on a great tournament. It makes you want to bring back wood bats for all games!!

Dear Little League Volunteers,

Little League International has posted a "Frequently-Asked Questions" article regarding the recent moratorium on composite baseball bats, as well as a list of licensed baseball bats with a 2 1/4 inch maximum diameter that are currently approved for use in the baseball divisions of Little League (Little League [Majors] Division and below).

Update on use of Composite Bats

Dear Little League Volunteer:

As announced last month, Little League has placed a moratorium on the use of composite bats in the Junior, Senior, and Big League Baseball Divisions of Little League, effective immediately. A link to more information about the moratorium on composite bats in the Junior, Senior, and Big League Baseball Divisions of Little League can be found here:

LL International Statement on Composite Bats

At present, the moratorium on composite bats does not apply to the Little League Baseball (Majors) Division and below, nor does it apply to any division of softball.

Little League International is contracting with the University of Massachusetts (Lowell) to begin research testing composite bats 2 ¼ barreled bats that are approved for play in Little League Baseball (Majors) Division and below using the Bat Performance Factor (BPF) protocol, as well as the Accelerated Break-In (ABI) procedure. That agreement was reached today, and testing will begin very soon.

"We wanted to get this information out as soon as possible," Patrick W. Wilson, Vice President of Operations at Little League International, said. "Our intent is to provide local league constituents clear direction regarding composite bats, and which ones meet the standards for the Little League Baseball (Majors) 12-and-under divisions, if any, as soon as possible. We hope to have the results to you by January 1, 2011."

Sincerely, Little League International

Whalley Loses Tough one at Provincials
The Whalley Major 11/12 Allstars took on Hastings in the semifinals Saturday afternoon. The game was a pitcher's dual and was 1-1 after 5. In the top of the 6th Hastings turned a lead off walk and a couple texas leaguers into 3 runs and took at 4-1 lead. In the bottom of the 6th Whalley couldn't muster a comeback and the game ended 4-1. A good game and the boys can be proud. Tyler Hoefer pitched great for Whalley. Congratulations on a very good year to the boys and Ed, Rob and Bob.

12's lose nail biter to Little Mountain
In a game that had more appeals than the Supreme Court Whalley dropped its first game of the Provincials to Little Mountain. Neither team generated much offence in a pitcher's duel with the tying and winning runs coming after an appealed play at first base which had ended the inning. Tyler Hoeffer pitched a gem going the distance but the Whalley bats were held at bay by Little Mountain who used a thumber first and when Whalley loaded the bases they called for their Ace. He got the job done and Whalley will retool for their next game today. It was a great game and more sure to follow with this team. Final 3-2 Little Mountain.
July 25, 2010
Whalley 12's win fist provincial game
Update from the Little League 12 year old Provincials. The last game of day one had the host team, New Westminster, up against Whalley. Both teams scored four runs a piece in the first inning, but then Whalley’s pitcher Shane Van Randen found his groove, as did Whalley’s bats, and it was all Whalley after that. They beat New Westminster 17-5. The All-Stars from Whalley collected 15 hits, while New Westminster put up eight. Little Mountain was the only team not in action on opening day. Their first contest comes tomorrow against Whalley at 12:00 p.m at Morneau field. See full coverage, articles and videos at http://www.ctvbc.ctv.ca/littleleague/

Chiefs have good day
The Chiefs started the day meeting the unbeaten Atlantic team. Connor Nishimura went the distance and the team was successful beating the team from the East 4-2. The second game was the meeting of the two last unbeaten teams. The D3 team was not a favourite in this one as they met the host team from Saskatchewan. The team started flat giving up numerous errors on route to the wrong side of a 5-1 lead by the host team after one inning. Matt Craik took the mound in the second and pitched lights out holding the hosts to one more unearned run. Meanwhile on the bats the D3 team woke up and slowly chipped away at the lead with the dagger being weilded by Jon Derish in the 6th with a two rbi double. Final D3-9 Host 6.

The Junior Allstars took on Coquitlam in the Provincial finals Wednesday night to see who advanced to the Canadian Championship. The team was ready to go after an exciting win the previous night. Unfortunately the bats were sluggish and Whalley fell behind 5-0. Excellent pitching by Cole Hunt held Coquitlam and Whalley made it 5-2. But that was as close as Whalley would get and Coquitlam prevailed 8-3.

A great Allstar season for all of the players. This group played the best competition around in Bantam AAA teams, US high school teams and select teams in Oliver - and they more than held their own. They did themselves and Whalley pround all the while having a lot of fun!

The Whalley 9 year old selects played Hastings in the Semi-Finals on Sunday, and lost to a very good ball team. The final score was 14 - 9.

In the consolation final, our second game of the day, the team was facing South Vancouver and the team fell behind 5 - 1 early in the game. The Whalley bats came to life in the 3rd, 4th and 5th inning and took a commanding lead. The final score was 15 - 9.

In the other Championship Game, White Rock # 1 beat Hastings by a score of 14 - 13 to take the honors for a third straight year.

The coaching staff and parents are very proud of the boys, they showed character and dedication throughout this last month. The Whalley boys came in a very respectable 3rd place, out of 10 teams, wnning 7 out of their last 9 games of the season! What a great way to end the season boys! Congrats to all!

The Whalley parents, coaches and players would like to say a big THANK YOU to the Langley Little League for there hospitality and hard work put in by their many volunteers. A great tournament it was!

9 Year Olds in Semis

Whalley 9 year old selects played another exciting game on Saturday afternoon! In the Quarter Final game, we were facing Coquitlam and fell behind 7-4 after two innings. Brandon Green pitched a solid 2 innings, but un-earned runs made it difficult for the Whalley boys. Bailey Chiasson came in strong on the mound in the 3rd and 4th inning, striking out 4 batters, and allowing no runs. The Whalley boys bats got to work in the fifth and the boys rallied for 5 runs to make it 13 - 9. With Roman Guthrie on the mound pitching HEAT to close up the game, the Coquitlam squad started hitting the ball hard to the outfield. With 2 men out, Whalley ahead 14-12, and with the bases loaded, the Coquitlam batter came to bat, hit a line drive to right center field. Whalley CF, Andy Kliewer picked up the ball from center field, at the fence.and threw a BULLET, " a TSN BULLET HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT" "let me tell ya" to home plate catcher, Evan Alexander, who made the perfect CATCH & TAG for the final out of the game. The crowd, parents, players and coaches were left breathless watching the last play to end the game. OH and so were the coaches. LOL

The Whalley boys do have a lot of CHARACTER! They certainly know how to win as a TEAM! The coaching staff is extremely PROUD of them boys, and so are the parents! The boys are working and encouraging each other as teammates, it's very nice to see and experience!

The Whalley Team is playing in the Semi-Finals, tomorrow, Sunday, at noon, against Hasting. In the other Semi-Finals, South Vancouver vs White Rock # 1. The two winners will face off at 4:00 for the Championship game, and the losers will compete for 3rd and 4th place, at the same time on the other field.

We hope you can come and cheer on them boys!!!!!!

9 Year Olds into Quarter Finals in Langley

The Whalley 9 Year Old Selects will be facing Coquitlam Saturday afternoon at 3:00 in Langley's District 3 Tournament.

The team started off the tournament going 3 and 0 before facing a determined South Vancouver Team. Whalley suffered it's first defeat of the tourney 13 - 7. SV's starting pitcher held us in check for the first 3 innings striking 6 of the 10 batters he faced. Ryan McCash started things with a double. Adam Vilio with a "good eye" at bat, was able to reach the bases twice, and also managed to score twice in the game. Roman Guthrie also had a tripple with the bases loaded at the top of the six, but it was too little too late for the boys.

The team is ready to face Coquitlam tomorrow in what should be another great game!

Come cheer on the boys!

Successful Sunday for 9's

On Sunday, the Whalley 9 year old selects, won both their games, in what was two great games to be a part of. Both games went till the end before a winner could be decided.

In the first game, White Rock came out strong with their bats to take an early 5-2 lead. But with perseverance, the boys came back slowly, to make it 9-7 in favor of WR. In the fifth inning, the bats came to life for 5 scores, to make it 12-9. The team took the field one last time. Roman Guthrie was on the mound throwing HEAT, striking out 2 of the last 3 batters, before ending the game on a routine grounder, the boys held on for the win. Andy Kliewer started the game and pitched a solid 3 innings. Brandon Green came in relief, and also pitched a great game. What a great game this one was. Very exciting, to say the least!

The second game was against the home town, Langley. Whalley came out strong in this game taking early leads of 8-4 and 13-8 midway through the game, the bats were working big time. In the fourth inning, Langley put in their # 1 pitcher and what an exhibition this kid put on. He pitched 3 innings and shut us down, by only facing 13 batters and striking out 5. In the mean time, Langley kept closing the gap to make it 13-11 game going into the 6 and final inning. With the bases loaded and ZERO out, the Whalley boys, "infield in", went to work. 3rd Basemen, Ashton Kellogg, and Catcher, Evan Alexander made two great, solid plays to secure the 13-12 victory for Whalley. Ashton fielded a couple grounders and made 2 perfect throws to Evan waiting at home plate before tagging the player to end this nail-bitter of a game. Parents, Fans, and tournaments organizers were thrilled to watch this game. What a battle it was! The Coaching Staff and Parents are pretty proud of all these boys! They are a great bunch of kids!

Whalley is now 3 and 0, and will play their last game of the Round Robin on Tuesday night (6:00) against South Vancouver. Playoffs are schedule for next weekend.

Come cheer on the boys. It's exciting baseball!

9's Start out in Langley

The Whalley 9 year old selects travelled to Langley on a hot and warm Saturday afternoon to take part in the Opening Ceremonies and Skills Competition events.

Evan Alexander placed a solid 4th in "Timed Throwing Accuracy" with a great time of 14:59 seconds. The drill was to throw 4 baseball at 1st base from different location around the diamond as fast and accurately as possible! Hope you enjoy your Prostocks Gift Certificate Evan! Congrats!

Shorthly after all the festivities, the Whalley team was scheduled to play Dunbar. The boys came up to play right from the start. Aggressive Base Running and discipline at bat led to an early lead in the game. Brandon Green, Roman Guthrie and Jacob Mahon, all pitching 2 great innings each, were solid on the mound to secure our first victory. A spectacular diving play by left fielder Randy Kilroy to save a few runs on what could have been a turning point in the game, could have definately made the TSN highlight play of the game! LOL The boys were up 12-2 after three innings and went on to win the game by a score of 14 - 6.

Sunday's schedule is the following: Noon Whalley vs White Rock #2

6 o'clock Whalley vs Langley

Come CHEER on the boys!

9 Year Old Selects Update from Cloverdale

The Whalley 9 Year Old Selects played in the Cloverdale Boulanger Tournament this last weekend, and got off to a slow start in their first 2 games of the weekend, they battled back and made those 2 games interesting, to say the least. The team finished the tourney with a 1-2-1 record.

The team started the tourney by playing Abbotsford. The team was behind 11-2 after 3 innings. They battled back, only to come up short at the end of it by losing 17-12. Andy Kliewer was named the player of the game with some amazing catches in the outfield and a solid performance at the plate as well. In our second game, the team got off to a slow start against Richmond, but the boys rallied back and came back to tie the game at 14 all, after being behind 14-7. Jacob Mahon was named the player of the game with a solid 2 1\3 innings of pitching. Our 3rd game was against the hosting team, Cloverdale. Our boys started the game off strong by making solid defensive plays, but the more experienced home town team took control of the game soon after never looking back. Our game MVP with a solid performance at 3rd base was Braden Scott. Game four, was the Consolation game against Rutland (Kelowna), and our team came ready to play from the start. The team took the lead, never looking back, and won their first game of the season by a score of 13-12. The player of the game was Brandon Green, coming back from an injury, he played in his first game of the tourney and pitched the last 3 innings as well as contributing at the plate.

The Whalley parents, coaches and players would like to say a big THANK YOU to the Cloverdale Baseball Association for there hospitality and hard work put in by their many volunteers. A great tournament it was! Whalley 9 Year-Old Selects will be playing their annual District Tournament starting next Saturday in Langley. Our Schedule is the following:

Juniors go 2-2 in Oliver

The Junior Allstars travelled to Oliver for the Can Am FUTURES 14U Classic this past long weekend. The team was looking for strong competition and they certainly got it. The team ended up going 2-2 and lost in the tournament semifinals.

The team opened with a win over Coquitlam behind the strong pitching of Brandon Bohn who relieved starter Will Gladwell and in the 3rd inning and went 5 strong for the victory. The 2nd game saw the team play the "Lime" Mizuno Camp team. Starting pitcher Robbie Bevacqua pitched superbly against a very strong batting lineup. Rob left the game in a 3-3 tie after 5 and the "Lime team" ultimately prevailed. The loss meant a victory over Alberta's Sherwood Park was needed in order to have a chance of making the semi finals. Starter Jordan Atkinson made sure of that with a dominating outing against Sherwoord Park going the distance in an 11-1 victory. In the semi final game the team came up against the other Mizuno Camp team. Unfortunately the "Red" team jumped out to an early lead after 1 inning and Whalley couldn't recover and went on to loose. All in all, a positive step in preparing for the Provincial Championship starting July 17th at Blue Mountain in Coquitlam.

Minor 9/10 All-Stars beat North Langley
Game 2 against North Langley was a back and forth affair with our Whalley boys coming out on top 11-9. Our boys were able to put the bat on the ball a little better today which gave us more opportunity to use our speed on the bases. Jovan Gill, Terrin Kandola and Matt Dalgleish all hit doubles while Tyler Bailey hit an opposite field triple. Billy Kranidas had a great day at the plate going two for two and scoring twice while his brother Kyle laid down a beautifullead off bunt in the fifth inning to get on and eventually score the game winning run. North Langleycame to the plate in the top of the sixth down by three but only managed one run thanks to some good closing pitching Matt Dalgleish and great heads up defence by Andrew Morin to get the last out of the game. The final will be on Sunday at 1:30 against White Rock at Walnut Grove Park. Come and check it out!!!

Minor 9/10 All-Stars beat White Rock
Well the Whalley 9/10 minors won their first game of the tournament today 9-6 against a very competitive team from White Rock. On the back of some strong pitching by Tyler Bailey, Terrin Kandola, Amrit Gill, Matthew Dalgleish and closer Brandon Boyo. The staff held the White Rock hitters to only four hits all game. The game was a one run game for the first four innings with some fantastic defensive plays by Jovan Gill. With the game in the top of the 5th inning and the team down 6-4 Billy Kranidas made it on base and worked his way to third. Billy scored on a pass ball while the next three batters Clayton Compeau, Matthew Slater and Terrin Kandola all took walks to reach bas. With the team down by one Matthew Dalgleish stepped up to the plate and delivered a two out double to center field to score two runs and take the lead. In the bottom of the fifth and the team now up by a run Matthew Dalgleish took only four batters to retire the side with some more defensive beauties by Jovan Gill. With the game now going into the 6th and last inning Tyler Bailey lead the team off by hustling to beat out an infield single. By the time the top of the 6th was over both Tyler and Jovan had scored to give us a three run cushion. Brandon Boyo came in to close the game and what a job he did. First hitter Brandon got him to ground out to first on three pitches. Second hitter hit a bullet to third but Jovan picked it up and threw a laser to first for the second out. The last batter of the game, Brandon decided to take care of himself by striking him out to end the game. All in all a great win for the kids!

Whalley Juniors Start Right Against AAA Bantams
Last night saw the Whalley Juniors take on the talented North Delta AAA Bantams in Whalley. Manager Rob Watt divided the pitching duties among 4 pitchers to keep them loose for this weekends tournament. Manager Watt handled the defensive changes with the skill of a veteran using his 20 plus years of coaching experience in order to provide a solid lineup and strong showing. Robbie Bevaqua started on the mound pitching 2 Will Gladwell-2, Brandon Bohn-2 and Braeden Alleman closing. Hits were scarce for both teams, however the Whalley defence was impenetrateable. The final score was Whalley 2 and North Delta 0. The pitchers were awesome and the defence was stellar. Manager Watt Coach Fischer and Coach Robazza were pleased with the effort. A doctor was called late last night in an attempt to surgically remove the smile off of Coach Pouwells face. Great start to the 2010 season.

Reds Take Junior Playoff Crown!

The Reds defeated the Yankees 7-4 in Thursday's Junior final to take the Junior Division Playoff crown.

Trailing 2-0 into the 4th, the Yankees scored 4 runs to take a 4-2 lead. In the bottom half of the same inning the Reds put together 6 hits - including 3 doubles - and scored 5 runs to take a 7-4 lead. Matthew Wong came on in relief of Daniel Singer in the 4th and shut the door for the rest of the way. Both Matthew and Daniel showed great heart battling their way thru a tough Yankee lineup. Stellar defensive play from Reds catcher Keirnan Hedberg certainly helped them!

Great game. Congratulations to both teams on a great season and playoff.

Cardinals Take Major Division Playoff Final

Wednesday night the league champion Yankees took on the upstart Cardinals in the Major Division Final. The Cardinals had eliminated the 2nd place Dodgers on Tuesday night and had an upset on their mind.

The Cardinals got off to a quick start in top of the 1st scoring two runs. They pushed the lead first to 3-1 and then to 6-1 after 4 innings. It looked like the game might get out of hand but in the bottom of the 5th the Yankees started to rally by scoring 4 runs making the score 6-5 after 5 innings.

In the top of the 6th the Cardinals scored a run giving them a 2 run lead going into the Yankees last at bat. In that inning the Yankees put the ball in play, got a runner to 2nd and the tieing run up to the plate - but solid defence by the left side of the Cardinal infield shut down any hopes of a comeback. Final score Cardinals 7 and Yankees 5. It was definitely an exciting final and one enjoyed by a big crowd of spectators. Congratulations to Ron, Don, Bob and all of the Cardinal players! Well done.

Whalley Minor 9-10 May Long Weekend Tournament

This year the Whalley Minor 9-10 tournament had 6 teams. There were 3 from Whalley, 2 from Hastings and 1 from North Langley. The round robin portion of the tournament produced 2 teams going undefeated. In the semi finals 2 Whalley teams battled the 2 Hastings teams, unfortunately they both came up short. It set up a Hastings vs Hastings final. It was a hard fought game with the Hastings Yankees coming out of it with the victory.

A special thanks to all the parents for your help in the concession and getting the fields ready to play on. To the coaches, it is people like you willing to give up your long weekend for the kids that make Whalley the class Little League program that it is and I thank you for that.

Thanks Doug Sandover Tournament Director

Major Yanks Battle To Championship at Makin Yard

The Whalley major Yankees fought back to win it all at the Coquitlam (Memorial) Victoria Day major tournament in dramatic fashion. After faltering in game 2 they needed to win every game Sunday to qualify for the final .The Yanks came out pounding the ball hard Sunday. Will Smith started things off with a big 2 run homer and Wallopping Whally Walcott wallopped two out over the fence and into the ditch at the south diamond as the Yanks bombed their way to a mercy win Sunday morning. Mark Vellios tried retrieving the ball but became mired in mud up to his neck but was rescued. At 3 pm, Nicholas(Spitz)Vellios pitched a great game going all the way in a tight tough game. Time after time it was the four 10 year olds who kept the team alive by getting key hard hits. Jared and Josh got on in the 2nd and Fizz knocked one up the middle to RBI Hauss. Kit Carson fought hard to get on base and bring up the top of the order. Daniel Dirt Jones kept scoring and making great defensive plays and Alex Nails Faulkner-Chow was solid at the plate getting on base and scoring at key times. Whally Wallcot wallopped a walk off three run homer to end the game in grand fashion. In the final on Monday against defending Champions Hastings Expos, Eric (Ports) Porter scored early to get the team on the board. Once again the younger kids came through with the game tied 1-1. Alex and Jared got on and were driven home when Fizz lined one up the middle to put the Yanks ahead 2-1. Winning pitcher JC Ciliberto helped himself by launching one out for a 3 run dinger to put the Yanks up 5-2.Solid closer Ryan Larsen came in to finish off Hastings for his 2nd save of the tourney and the Yanks shut em down to win it all and celebrate the thrill of victory.

Playing Little League baseball at Whalley will be a great experience that will create lifetime memories for each player and their families. Many of us who have been part of the Whalley family have fond memories of our time spent at the park. Being a member of Whalley Little League creates a great sense of pride in being part of one of the best Little League associations in the world!

A returning player will receive a $25 discount from their current season registration fee for each “Friend” that they bring to Whalley Little League as a new player for the upcoming season. The new registrant will also receive a $25 discount off their current season’s registration if they confirm at the time of registering that they are a “Friend” of one of our currently registered players. The discount will be applied to the new players immediately while the currently registered player will receive a refund cheque once the registration paper work has been processed by the league.

Thanks for your interest!
